You already know that we are seasoned experts at laser hair removal here at Laser Center of Port Orange, but we have a few other tricks up our sleeve! In addition to making you hair-free, we can assist in you feeling carefree in other ways – such as removing toenail fungus.
One can get a fungal infection in the nail due to an overgrowth of fungi. Fungus love to grow in warm, moist environments – so this is why toenail fungal infections are very common . . . your socks and shoes make the perfect breeding ground. Additionally, if you have come in contact with someone who has a fungal infection already, it could very easily spread to you.
The removal of toenail fungus is generally not painful and is super fast and effective. While everyone is different, it typically can be taken care of in one treatment, usually not more than three – especially if it is just fungus on the partial nail. In special circumstances, such as if the whole nail is infected and you happen to be diabetic, it might not work as efficiently, but that will be on a case by case basis. And while everyone’s pain tolerance is different, this treatment generally does not hurt. If we have to go over the area 3 or 4 times, it might start to be painful due to the heat building up – but say “ouch” and we’ll stop! Don’t let a little fear of pain stop you from having the beautiful toenails you deserve.
Before you request a fungal treatment with our laser, we ask that you please see a dermatologist or podiatrist first to get a proper diagnosis and make sure it really is a fungus. There have been instances where people have had cancer under the toenails and it just looked like fungus – we want to be absolutely sure it really is just fungus as a precaution. And then after the diagnosis, if your doctor does not have a laser on hand, or if you just prefer us, schedule a visit and we’ll take care of it for you!
