One of the most important things to discuss when getting a consultation for laser hair removal is your expectations. We know that nothing is worse than expecting one thing and getting something else!
So let’s get this one out of the way first: touch-ups are not uncommon! Hair removal with the laser is never 100%, especially if you have a hormonal issue. (At least for now – who knows what technology will be like in the future!) However, 80-90% hair-free is currently achievable.
The most important thing to stress is that everyone is so different! Some people do just six sessions and are content with 80% of their hair gone. Other people keep coming, determined to get at least 90% gone which is possible! It will take at least 6 treatments for any area of the body, sometimes 8, and sometimes more! Every body is different.
Some people have the expectation that sessions are super long because they have heard stories of what laser hair removal was like way back when. We are so thankful for modern technology! Sessions now are super quick. Legs or even a man’s back can be done in 10 minutes. A session for facial hair can take even a minute or less!
A lot of people believe that laser hair removal is pretty painful. This is also something that is no longer true thanks to modern technology. While we must stress again that every body is different (and that includes pain tolerance), most people feel a little rubber band pinch during the hair removal. If it helps ease your nerves, please keep in mind that we use a cooling gel on your skin (think ultrasound gel) and a cooling tip on the laser!
